| "Joseph the Dreamer" |
On Wednesday 9/20/2006 at
7:00 pm, Pastor Tim presented "My Name is Peter' at Poughkeepsie
Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Several weeks later the
head of women's ministries called him, and asked if he would come back
in April to do another drama. Pastor Tim explained
that he only had one Christian drama. He was called back a few
times. Finally he was told, "We really think God wants you to do
this for us." So he wrote a second drama entitled
"Josepnh the Dreamer." It was presented for the first time at
the same church on Saturday, April 27, 2007, at their annual women's
tea for over one hundred people. This play was very well
received. In this drama, Jacob's son, Joseph, is portrayed. He
is a very old man of more than 100 years; near the end of his
life. He is speaking to the fourth generation of Jacob's
descendents. Joseph tells them of his rise from a simple shepherd
boy to the second most powerful person in the world, and more
importantly, how God used him to preserve his chosen people. At
this point there were two dramas. Then in january of 2010,
pastor Time felt that God was calling him to wrrite a third drama on
the Apostle Paul. He felt impressed to write and present it in
less than two weeks at his local church on Sunday morning as the
sermon. Knowing this was only possible through God's grace, he
proceeded. On Sunday morning, January 31, "Paul the Apostle" was
presented for the first time. Members of the congregation
testified in different ways that they were blessed. Later that
year, Pastor Tim was asked to write FIVE dramas on old testament
figures for each day of Vacation Bible School at his local church.
During the first week of August, 2010, this was accomplished.
The gift was confirmed again, and viewers were blessed.
God uses these Christian dramas, which are first person
expository preaching, for His glory.

Someone asked if it were
true that there was going to be a one-man production of “Joseph and the
Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
I have to say that made me think of what
that would be like!
I made the correction and said, No,
Pastor Tim would be presenting a one-man drama of Joseph, son of Jacob
who was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers later became the
second most powerful man in Egypt; The story of Joseph who had
dreams and was used by God to interpret dreams.
Pastor Tim brought that story to
life as he recounted the story from the perspective of Joseph who was
retelling the events of life after many, many years had
passed. I was looking at the young people in the audience
during the drama, and was happy to see that the usual bored look on
these faces was not there. I noticed that they looked interested
and alert and I think it is to Pastor Tim’s credit as a sharer of Bible
stories that these teens and preteens were alive to the
portrayal. I give kudos to the person who is able to use his gift
of drama to share the Bible with all ages, especially teens.
The adults also enjoyed the
telling of the story and I afterward heard some say that they had a new
understanding of the message of the story of Joseph. It was
not only that God was always with Joseph, but also that forgiveness for
anything is possible with God’s help.
So often we hear Bible
stories in Sunday School or hear the recounting of these stories
in a sermon. We may even watch productions on television, but I
think the message becomes more personal in the medium used by Pastor
Tim. It was as if Joseph himself actually visited our church to
speak to us and to paint the picture of the events of his life just for
us.
Thank you, Pastor Tim,
for sharing God’s gift to you with us. We look forward to
whatever you may do in the future. We also enjoyed
“My Name is Peter” which you shared with us in 2009.

I am writing this letter in
reference to the ministry of Pastor Tim Blanchfield in his first person
role of "Joseph". Pastor Tim did a great job portraying the character
of Joseph in his latter years sharing his experiences of youth
adulthood and later as the second in command of Egypt. He was well
prepared and versed in Old Testament scripture and his costume just
added to the total effectiveness of Pastor Tim's ministry.
I would highly recommend this
ministry to any church or Christian organization.
Blessings In Christ,

I would like to give
recommendation and reference for Rev. Timothy Blanchfield of
Saugerties, NY. Tim performed two dramas at
St. Mark’s Reformed Church in Philadelphia, where I served before
retirement. His second, “Joseph,” was also well received.
He really spoke to hearts. For a brief time this patriarch
appeared in our sanctuary.
Tim brings his own fm
amplification. His presentation would nicely fill the normal time
for preaching. In addition to being a part-time
pastor, he is a school teacher, and volunteer Bible teacher in youth
prison. I have known Tim since 1993.
Sincerely in Christ,
David G. Williams

"Pastor Tim's dramatic and vivid
portrayal of the biblical character of Joseph was truly a blessing for
the young and not so young. The monologue and his costume was so
realistic that a child of seven stood and asked if the character was
real or a ghost!"
